SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE REGIONAL PHOTO-LISTING

Individuals may subscribe to SEE US, the regional photo listing of children needing to be adopted. While many local agencies subscribe, there are areas where no book is available. Some families tell us it is difficult to see the book at some agencies; staff review it and determine if referrals should be made for families in their caseloads. We urge families seeking a child to go through the book themselves as they know the types of children they can parent best and seeing the children helps in the decision.

OUR FAMILY REGISTER

Approved families seeking a waiting child to adopt should register with SEEUS. Our family register is simply a listing of families and the types of children they feel they can parent. As new children are referred to us; we review the register and send families information on any child who loosely fits their interests...before the child appears in our regional photo-list. A copy of the referral goes to the family's worker also, urging each worker to contact the other for further information. To defray mailing costs, we require annual membership dues of $20.00.

THE NATIONAL ADOPTION EXCHANGE

You may wish to register with the National Adoption Exchange who registers waiting children from other parts of the country. The National Exchange uses a computer matching process and will make referrals to you, your worker and the child's worker at the same time based on the information you supply about the types of children you see. Call them at (215) 735-9988 or write to 1500 Walnut St., Suite 701, Philadelphia, PA 19102. They also have a website of www.adopt.org which features over 1000 waiting children in various states.
