About Us: Mission Statement

Mission Statement As an adoption resource for children awaiting placement in them southeastern states', The SouthEastern Exchange of the United States (SEEUS) believes that all children benefit from the security of belonging to a permanent family, and that children with serious mental, physical, and/or emotional limitations especially need parental nurture. Recognizing the needs of the region, SEEUS is particularly dedicated to increasing opportunities for waiting Black children to achieve permanence.

Though its varied services, SEEUS seeks primarily:

to identify and make visible those children within the region needing adoptive placement; to increase community awareness about the needs of waiting children, particularly minority children.

to expedite agencies in exploring interstate resources; and to assist interested families in securing supportive services of local agencies, adoptive parent and minority groups.

SEEUS also provides training and technical assistance to agency staff, parent and minority groups, to complement and improve their continuous placement efforts, and utilizes its resources and relationships to model good social work practice and to advocate for services deemed essential in securing permanent families for children with special needs.
